We have seen snow in every month in North Central Montana.
As far as I can remember we usually get a snow storm in October interrupting any nice autum weather we might be experiencing. We usually get a big spring snowstorm as well. It usually includes power outages, frozen blossoms and flowers, and icy roads.
We keep moving our calving season back a few weeks at a time, in hopes that we avoid the spring storms…however, over the last few years it seems as though the spring storms are following along with our plans!
Every year the “BIG” spring storm moves back a few months also…what’s our next move?
Moving calving back even further would interrupt the best camping season, and we found out last year, camping is a really good family activity we can all do and enjoy…don’t want to do that! So I guess we just keep on keeping on and thank Carhartt for making really good reliable clothing and thank all the others who we are able to buy extra straw and hay from throughout the year.
Any moister is very welcome where we live. We don’t come by moisture easily. In fact, we are usually praying and begging for more moisture.
We get about 10 inches or less on average here. We have grass lands that are pretty well adapted to that and (in our area) a really nice canal company that keeps the water flowing so we can irrigate our crops and our herds.
This year we seemed to get snow storms then it would warm up and give us the feels of another season...and then snow again, and repeat! It feels like we have welcomed winter with intermissions of springs/summer about 12-13 times this year...but who is counting?
Complaining about moisture…is off limits! However, complaining about the temperatures…is not! And it’s too cold right now!
