I am someone who LOVES trying new recipes and new ways of trying things. While I love the old Tired and True...I love when new ways become Tried and True! There are few things that beat a deliciously grilled steak at a summer BBQ, but its not always summer and we don't always have access to a BBQ. Here is a fun way to cook your steak under the broiler. It gives it a thorough cook and a nice pan sear all in one.
We tried this technique and liked that we didn't have to cook the steak outside in the freezing cold. I liked that I didn't have grease splatters all around our cook-top! And the steak turned out tender and....pretty good. Here are some of the mistakes I made in hopes that it will help you as you try it out. We used steaks from our personal meat...it was over a year old and it was cut pretty thin. I cooked it 5 min on each side and because of the meat we used...that was WAY TOO LONG! it needed maybe 3 min on each side max. I also way over salted it. Mostly because I was filming my process for Instagram and wasn't paying attention. So be mindful of the salt you put on it. AND lastly I forgot to cover with tin foil at the end. That process helps lock in the moisture and makes it super tender...so don't miss that step!
This recipe comes from the SIMPLY MEAT cookbook which has over 100 ways to cook meat! I am excited to keep trying recipes from this cookbook as well as share some of my own with you. If you try this out let me know either on here, via an email or on our social media account!
I hope you enjoy!!
